Tasty Tuesday -Week 20

Theme: Sandwiches

Okay, okay. So I'm taking the lazy way out yet again. Posting pictures is just sooo convenient! This week I present to you my favorite fast food. Yet another thing I am not able to eat very often. But the limitation only makes the enjoyment that much more powerful. :D

Tasty Tuesday -Week 19

Theme: Salty Snack

Those who know me best are aware that I have a weakness. Nachos. I can't have them often due to my low-sugar intake, but I crave them more often than any other snack. I stumbled across this picture on the site ilovenachocheese.com and realized that, out there, somewhere in the universe, someone actually loves nachos even more than I do.

Because this is just horridly disgusting to me.

EWW!

Tasty Tuesday -Week 18

Theme: Fruit

I dedicate this carving to my co-workers, Ashley and Justin, who are getting married this month. Who knew such cuteness could be carved out of fruit?

WHERE do people discover these talents?

Tasty Tuesday -Week 17

Theme: RANDOM

I saw this post on the controversial gossip site PerezHilton.com a while back and bookmarked it for this entry. NOTHING says "Yummy" like gold spray paint for food!

Isn't this rather amazing looking, though?

Tasty Tuesday -Week 16

Theme: YOUR CHOICE

Oooh, no set theme. All up to me to be creative. ACK!

*fail*

I hereby dedicate this post to Tasty Tuesday! If it wasn't for this meme that I partake in, my blog would have been rather barren the past few months. I know my inspiration to blab about my life (or the world in general) goes in spurts. But come rain or shine, I always make sure to put up the Tasty Tuesday post.

I love you, T.T.!!

Tasty Tuesday -Week 13

Lucky 13's Tasty Tuesday theme is: Green

Perfect, considering that it is St. Patties Day. Are you wearing green? NO!?

*pinches you*

Today's entry contains a pop quiz (and the above mentioned pinch, of course!)

What childrens' book is written using only fifty words? Yes. 50. Only.

Need a clue? Okay. Here are the 50 words:

Have you figured it out? One more clue?

"___________________" was published in 1960 and became the fourth best selling English-language childrens' hardcover book of all time.[1][4] In 1999, the National Education Association conducted an online survey of children and teachers, seeking the 100 most popular children's books. On both the children's and the teachers' lists, it was ranked third.

Have you figured it out now? Yes? No! Okay. Okay. I'll share the answer. If you knew it without the hint, you get a gold star. Nay, a GREEN star, since that is today's theme.

Happy GREEN Day, everyone. It's my favorite color, after all.
It SHOULD be celebrated. :D

Holy Pan

In Week 10's Tasty Tuesday entry, I shared the image of the Virgin Mary in the form of french toast. I now present to you a frying pan to match it. No, this pan isn't the one that cooked up Mary, but it should have been.

I found this image on Perez Hilton's site. All credit for the photo goes to Perez and whatever camera man this pan-boy posed for.

THEME: Pasta

I love pasta. In fact, it could be considered amongst my favorite foods. Yes, it ranks right up there with curry and cheesecake (not combined). But in addition to cooking it, there are people in this world who also turn into other types of masterpieces.

Tasty Tuesday -Week 11

Pie

I admit it. Ninety-nine percent of the time I HATE cooked fruit. So naturally I'm not a 'pie' gal. (Cake is a whole different story. ::drool:: ) There are some pies that are still nommy to me, though. This week I am sharing a super easy recipe that I found online. I soooo want to make this pie! I found the recipe on allrecipes.com, for the record.

_______________________________

Ingredients

* 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese
* 1 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar
* 1 cup peanut butter
* 1 cup milk
* 1 (16 ounce) package frozen whipped topping, thawed
* 2 (9 inch) prepared graham cracker crusts

Directions

1. Beat together cream cheese and confectioners' sugar. Mix in peanut butter and milk. Beat until smooth. Fold in whipped topping.
2. Spoon into two 9 inch graham cracker pie shells; cover, and freeze until firm.

One comment by a user of the site linked above suggested making the crust out of Nutter Butter cookies. Holy mackerel!! Sign me up for a slice of that!

Tasty Tuesday -Week 10

This weeks theme is
"Biscuits and Bread".

I decided I'd be creative (for me) this week and take a different approach to the topic. So I googled the word bread and thought I'd share some of the neat stuff that came up. An online search is always risky business to be sure. If filters aren't in place, who KNOWS what kind of scary stuff can pop up on the screen. Wouldn't you know it, the second image on my search was a loaf shaped like feces. Yum? Fortunately there were also charming things like bread teddy bears and bread turtles. So cute!!

There was also a clump of grapes, what appeared to be a baked turkey, a crocodile, and HEADS! Yes, heads, and other gruesome body parts. Very freaky, yet cool. And ALL bread!

Of course, there is always the most FAMOUS of breads, the "Virgin Mary Grilled Cheese Sandwich". Apparently the lady who made it kept this sandwich for over a decade before selling it for big bucks ($28,000, to be exact) to an online casino. NO clue what they will do with it. In an interview following the sale, the gal who made it said “I would like all people to know that I do believe that this is the Virgin Mary Mother of God,”.

Yes, lady. Mary, the mother of God has nothing better to do that hang around in your grilled cheese sammich. I ate a tuna fish sandwich as I typed this post, and though I kept careful watch, not once did I see a religious figure in my food.

I must be going to hell.

Tasty Tuesday -Week 8

CHOCOLATE!

With the chaos in my life lately, I admit to being a bit lazy in my Tasty Tuesday entries.

Forgive me!

I am sharing a picture of my FAVORITE chocolate. My entry might be short, but it is very sweet. See's Candies has a Rasberry Truffle that is to die for. Really.

It's amazing. I don't eat sugar much anymore, and haven't for quite some time. But if a dozen of these showed up at my door, I'd eat them without thinking twice and smile as I slipped into a sugar coma.

HEAVEN!

Tasty Tuesday -Week 7

This week's theme: Hot Breakfast

In an attempt to lift the glum spirit my blog has been affected by in recent past, I submit to you my Tasty Tuesday entry for the week.

Put me in group of 10 people, and I'd bet money that more often than not, I'd be in the top 7 when it comes to people with the dirtiest mind. What can I say? I'm a perv. :P So imagine my reaction when I saw the name and image on this juice drink as I passed it at the store. Talk about a triple-take.

It might not be a hot breakfast, but you can certainly drink it in the morning as you consume your bacon and eggs. And it certainly is

HOT!?!

*shudder*

Tasty Tuesday -Week 5

The theme for this week: MEAT!

I eat it. No vegetarian here. There was once a time, though, when I couldn't digest it very well. Doctors told me I'd not miss my gall bladder when it was taken out but they were wrong. So very wrong. I spent about a year experiencing the hellish torture joys of soy-based meat replacements. MorningStar Chick'n Patties were my fav, but I was very glad when I was finally able to indulge in the real deal once again.

Folks, don't take that gall bladder for granted. It might be benefiting you more than you'll ever realize!!

Tasty Tuesday -Week 4

"Yellow"

Today's entry is short, but sweet. So sweet.

I've been craving cake for a few weeks now, and this week's theme of "Yellow" made Yellow Cake come to mind.

CAKE!!

I was surfing around the internet and saw the neatest pan the other day. It is AWESOME looking.

There's a HOLE in that cake!

Tasty Tuesday -Week 3

This week's theme is "Toppings".

While not necessarily a "sauce topping" of any type, my topic does indeed rest 'on top' of the foods it adorns... so let's all pretend that it applies, shall we?

I adored maraschino cherries when I was little. My parents still love telling the story of the time we had a barbecue with our neighbors back when I was about 9 years old. My family was assigned to bring ice cream sundaes and when dessert rolled around, they realized that they had left the jar of maraschino cherries in the fridge at home. We were only next door so they sent me over to get them.

On the way back I couldn't resist popping one into my mouth and savoring the sticky sweetness. I quickly realized I might be in trouble if I ate the cherries before I got back to the party so I impulsively pulled the sucked-on cherry from my mouth and put it back in the jar. It blended in just fine with the other cherries once it was back in the juice. Moments later I had another one in my mouth. I couldn't resist the delicious flavor. Again, I put the cherry back unscathed. By the time I reached the neighbors' house again I had sucked on every one of those darn cherries. And I didn't tell anyone I had done it!! At least not until later that night when we were at home. I confessed my sins to my parents in full detail, and to their credit, they kept a straight face as I shared the tale. Thankfully, my neighbors had great senses of humor as well, or so my parents told me. Apparently they all split a gut laughing when they were told of my little 'deed'.

Oh, the shame.

Tasty Tuesday -Week 2

Party Food!

In the spirit of a brand new year's celebration, the theme this week for Tasty Tuesday is PARTY FOOD!

Having grown up in a rather conservative environment, I admit my thoughts on the types of food and drink served at a party are very boring tame compared to what might be offered at a standard New Years celebration. When I think of parties I think of chips & salsa, popcorn, cheese & crackers, brownies, and soda. Lots of soda. Mostly Rootbeer and other caffeine-free options. If the person who hosted the parties of my youth was a real rebel we'd have the 'good stuff' like Mountain Dew, Dr. Pepper and Pepsi! Woo!

I'm happy to announce that even without alcohol involved, the friends at these parties seemed to get as rowdy and exciting as the average person would at a party fueled by beer. Although... by the end of the night there was less nudity... and no one drove home (or into a tree) drunk.

This year I'm not sure where I'll be when we ring in 2010. There are a couple of options. I still don't drink alcohol. It's just not my 'thing'. I also don't eat a lot of sugar. DH and I have been avoiding it for over half a year and our health is vast improved. (He's lost 50 pounds!)

If I'm wild and crazy that night, it will be because I ate too many tortilla chips. WACKY ME!
